Before we kick-off, let’s have a proper introduction first! We are Bastian Lievers and Tim Blaney Davidson. We’ve been a creative team for more than 5 years now. We are one of those teams who met at Art Academy and have been working together in the industry ever since. We spent time working in big international agencies but also very small ’boutique’ studios. From the very traditional ones, to the ones who truly push for change and innovation. For the biggest brands in the world like; Nike, Chanel, Google and Virgin. For us it became more of a European Tour through Paris, London and Amsterdam. As the years passed by, we always had a deep desire to start our own company one day. That day has finally come.
We’ve spent the last couple of months building the foundation for a new type of company. Trying to define what type of company you want to build and what it represents takes a long time. Especially if you’ve been in the industry for a while and seen a lot of inside offices.
With the industry growing and changing more rapidly than ever, the services and solutions we want to bring to our clients have to be ready for whatever tomorrow brings. And yes, we are readier than ever.
The first thing people ask about our company is what the name is about and what it means. We would love to tell you more about it.
Dotalpha stands for a few things. First of all: we love the word ‘Alpha’ because it means ‘first; the beginning’. It’s the point in time or space at which something begins. We believe that the foundation of everything always starts at the beginning. Whether that is for the clients we partner with, the work we produce or to satisfy people’s needs for which it was intended for. The ‘Dot’ is our source where the creativity comes from. The dot is also an ‘digital’ extension of our clients. Which means we always put the clients we work with, first.
When we partner with our clients, the first thing we do is to go back to the fundamentals of these companies by understanding what their core-values are and understand how they work. We then use all of the collected information to challenge the clients’ needs. What happens next is a very interesting conversation about fundamentals, challenges and opportunities than will forge the beginning of a true partner relationship.

During our time working at agencies, we noticed that even before the brief came in, the client already knew what specific platform or medium it wanted to use. Always we asked: Why?
The point we’re trying to make here is that by going back to the very essence of the brief and when you’re in the process of problem-solving, you might find out that using a completely new or different medium/platform might be a much better solution for your brand.
We’re a digital innovation studio and that means something to us. Today’s digital landscape is more crowded than it has ever been. Dot Alpha helps modern brands with finding new ways to deliver a clear and unique voice on connected platforms and devices.
